A winter storm is on track to impact the Northland today into Saturday evening. Snowfall totals of 5 to 10 inches, with 11 to 17 inches along the higher terrain of the North Shore, are expected across the area. The heaviest snow will occur tonight into Saturday morning before tapering off Saturday afternoon. Strong northwest winds will arrive for Saturday afternoon into Saturday night with gusts to 25 to 40 mph+ expected. This will lead to blowing and drifting snow and continued dangerous driving conditions. Quiet conditions will return on Sunday and persist into the new week.

Southeasterly winds gusting up to 50 km/h will create areas of blowing snow giving reduced visibilities, particularly overnight and early Saturday morning.Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.
