Thunder Bay Chill

USL League Two released the 2020 schedule

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO,  January 24, 2020  (LSN)  USL League Two released the 2020 schedule today including the 14-game regular season schedule for the Thunder Bay Chill.  The Chill continue to play in the Heartland Division with a few changes for this coming season.

First, the division has grown to 8 teams, with a new franchise operating out of Peoria, Illinois and Chicago FC United returning to the division after playing out of the Great Lakes division in 2019.  All teams will play each other twice during the regular season.
Secondly, the league has experienced significant growth, with 79 teams competing in USL League Two in 2020.  This has led to the creation of a new division in the Eastern Conference with a domino effect of having a third division being added to the Central Conference.  This division will be made up of previously existing teams in the central mid-south.  This will have an impact on the playoffs, as only the top team in each division along with the best second place team from the three divisions making it into the post season.  “This definitely makes it more difficult to make the playoffs”, said Chill head coach Giovanni Petraglia, who returns to the Chill for his 6th season as head coach.
The Chill have not made the playoffs the last two seasons after playing for the National Championship in 2017.
Heading into their 21st season in the league, the Chill will start the season at home with two games against FC Manitoba (formerly WSA Winnipeg), on May 29th and 30th.
Green Bay Voyageurs will visit Thunder Bay on June 5 for a single game in the Battle of the Bays, before the Chill hit the road for a 3 game road trip against the St. Louis Lions, Kaw Valley FC and Des Moines Menace on June 11, 13 and 14 respectively.

The Chill return home for a pair of games on June 19th and 20th against the Des Moines Menace and new addition Peoria respectively.  A four game road trip will take the Chill to Green Bay, Chicago and Peoria in late June/early July, prior to ending the season at home against Kaw Valley FC and St. Louis Lions on July 7th and 8th.
The Chill will play its perennial exhibition games against Winnipeg Lions on May 23rd and 24th.  The club is also looking to host additional friendly games in May with teams and dates to be determined.
The club will be moving all league games back to tbaytelfield @ Chapples Park where the team saw much success. “We are very happy to move back to Chapples as it allows us to service our fans in different ways”, commented Chill President Tony Colistro. Fans will be able to purchase general seating tickets but also VIP seats and newly field covered seats.    Season tickets will go on sale Saturday February 1, 2020. Purchases can be made at the office by calling 623-5911 or via email at See our website for ticket pricing and specific seat reservations.
The Thunder Bay Chill plays in the 79-team prospect USL League Two which is the highest level of amateur soccer in North America and an important steppingstone for top professionals. #Path2Pro
