OPP Fort Frances ~ Emo
FORT FRANCES, ONTARIO ~~~~~ May 19, 2022 (LSNews) Allison Lawrence, A/Media Relations Coordinator is reporting that Rainy River Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is reminding the public of the importance of conducting a pre-season inspection of your pleasure craft before heading out on the waters. Boating is a great way to enjoy the warmer weather, but it can also be dangerous if your vessel is not in proper working order, or if you do not have the necessary safety equipment.
OPP Marine officers are conducing free dockside inspections and encourage members of the public to come to one of the locations listed below. This will be an opportunity to ask questions and to have your pleasure craft inspected to ensure it's in safe working order.
The available dates and locations include:
- Noden Casueway and Sorting Gap Marina, Fort Frances
May 19 to 20, 2022 from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m..
- Tompkins Outdoors, 6152 ON-11, Emo
May 25, 2022 from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m..
- Canadian Tire, 1000 King's Highway, Fort Frances
May 26, 2022 from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m..
Rainy River OPP would also like to remind boaters to be extremely cautious of navigational hazards and debris floating around our waterways. The ongoing flooding conditions have caused a very high increase in the debris we see in the spring. Officers have observed pieces of dock and decks, floating bogs that have broken loose, full size trees with root bases and hundreds of sticks and smaller items. Please be cautions while we deal with the ongoing high water situation our district is currently facing.
