Two More Arrested Distribution of child pornography

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO February 20, 2020 - 13:30  (LSN)  Police Media Release States: The Thunder Bay Police Service has made an arrest in connection to an ongoing investigation involving the uploading of child pornography.

Members of the service’s Cyber Crimes Unit began an investigation in September of 2019 after receiving information that a local Internet user was suspected of having uploaded images of child pornography.

As a result of an ongoing investigation, a suspect was identified and police determined that images uploaded were consistent with child pornography.

On Feb. 19, 2020, police executed a search warrant at a home in the 300 block of Grenville Avenue. During the search officers seized an electronic device, which was found to contain images consistent with child pornography.

A male suspect was arrested at the scene without incident.

Brandon Joey Valentino DESMOULIN, 25, is charged with Possession of Child Pornography.

He appeared in bail court on Thursday, Feb. 20 and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO February 18, 2020 - 17:00  (LSN)  Police Media Release States:  Thunder Bay Police Service officers have made an arrest connected to an ongoing investigation involving child pornography.

Members of the service’s Cyber Crimes Unit began an investigation on Jan. 21 after learning that suspected child pornography was being uploaded by a local Internet user.

An investigation identified a potential suspect and on Jan. 30, 2020 officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the 700 block of Marks Street South.

Several devices were seized during that search. Police later located images consistent with child pornography.

Michael Ian Wolfe MCCUTCHON, 20, of Thunder Bay, is charged with Accessing Child Pornography. He appeared in bail court on Monday, Feb. 17 and was released with conditions and a future appearance date.

The investigation is ongoing.

It’s made Thunder Bay the highest per capita opioid death rate in Ontario.

The 44 deaths were a 40 per cent increase from 2017, a year in which Thunder Bay also held the highest provincial rate.

Between July 2017 and June 2018, nearly 3,900 naloxone kits were handed out by the Thunder Bay District Health Unit and local pharmacies,
