Sudden Death | Thunder Bay 2019



THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  ~~~~~~  July 24, 2021  (LSNews)  Hardworking Thunder Bay Police Officers were called to the Victoria Inn at 555 Arthur Street West last night, Friday July 23,2021 at 9:33pm.

Hotel security, as well as Poplar Hill security staff had become aware of a loud and violent disturbance in a third floor hotel room when they called police.

TBPS investigated and learned that a woman had been sleeping in a bed when a man began striking her face with a steel toed boot in his hand. He struck multiple times.

Police noticed her face swollen & bleeding.

A 47 year old RUDY STRANG of Poplar Hill was arrested & criminally charged with:

-assault with a weapon (steel toe boot)

STRANG was brought to the Balmoral Police Station to spend the night in a fireproof cell and appeared by phone in Thunder Bay Bail Court today, Saturday July 24,2021 before Her Worship, Justice of the Peace Sheree Scribner

Provincial Crown Attorney Stella Vallelunga consented to the release of STRANG with conditions:

  • -do not attend Victoria Inn
  • -no contact with female victim
  • -no weapons
  • -report address to TBPS

STRANG will need to get the Band Office to find him an alternate hotel to stay at.

Inside Edition sources indicate that the Poplar Hill evacuees might be returning to their community as early as Monday.

 It has been announced again that Thunder Bay is the Murder Capital of Canada for 2018 in Canada for CMAs with populations between 100,000 to less than 500,000 people

Between July 2017 and June 2018, nearly 3,900 naloxone kits were handed out by the Thunder Bay District Health Unit and local pharmacies,
