A 35 year old ALLAN JOE SLIPPERJACK appeared by audio from the Thunder Bay Jail in Plea Court today, Wednesday April 28,2021 before Her Honor, Justice Claudia Belda Perez to plead guilty to crimes he committed last fall.

  • SLIPPERJACK is pleading guilty to:
  • -assault (dropped down from robbery)
  • -assault TBPS Officer
  • -breach of probation

On Sunday November 22,2020 shortly after 1pm SLIPPERJACK was walking through the parking lot of LCBO & Landmark Inn on Dawson Road when he spotted 2 males with shopping bags. SLIPPERJACK knew one of the males and approached them. He struck the male he did not know in the face at least twice and stole an item from the shopping bag. A witness spotted this and phoned hardworking TBPS Officers who quickly arrived and began looking for SLIPPERJACK.

A brush fire had started just East of the Hotel and Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded. TBPS Officers located SLIPPERJACK near the fire and he tried to run away. Officers caught up to him and made the arrest.

SLIPPERJACK tried to spit on one of the Officers and resisted arrest.

SLIPPERJACK was on a Conditional Sentence Order for a similar offence at the time of this latest crime. He was also on probation.

ALLAN JOE SLIPPERJACK is a band member of the Fort Hope 64 Indian Reserve which is a location that is notorious for arson, alcohol & drugs. His father was a heavy drinker. SLIPPERJACK started sniffing gasoline at 11 years old, and drugs/booze at 12. By 14 years, he was drinking alcohol daily. He began using opiates at 27 years old.

SLIPPERJACK has a history of violent crime starting in 2005. Several convictions of assault, aggravated assault, assault with weapon, assault causing bodily harm. He was also out on bail at this time for an assault on a woman in Fort Hope.

Crown Attorney Heather Bracken & Defence lawyer Justin Blanco disagree on the length of sentence for SLIPPERJACK. The Crown wants 6 months and defence thinks that time served is enough. Her Honour Belda Perez decides that 4 months is an appropriate sentence. SLIPPERJACK has served 66 real days which is enhanced to 99 days. He had 21 days left to serve, but will be statutorily released in 2 weeks. SLIPPERJACK also receives another 12 months of probation along with a 5 year weapons prohibition order. He is ordered not to contact his victims.
