THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  ~~~~~~~~~   July 6, 2021  (LSN)  Hardworking Thunder Bay Police Officers were called before 2pm yesterday, Monday July 5,2021 regarding a disturbance at an apartment located at 277 Pearl Street

Officers located 2 unwanted black Southern Ontario males inside the apartment. The tenant did not want them there.

They allegedly had almost $3000 cash, along with almost $10 000 of fentanyl and crack cocaine in their possession.

A 16 year old youth tried lying to police about his name because he was also busted in December 30,2020 at another home takeover at 504 Pacific Avenue. He was previously released on December 31,2021.

Hardworking Thunder Bay Police Officers arrested and charged both males.

A 22 year old DENIER DAIGRAM CAMPBELL of Brampton was criminally charged with:

  • -Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • -Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • -Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • -Being Unlawfully in a Dwelling

A 16 year old male D.I. of Ajax was criminally charged with:

  • -Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • -Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • -Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • -Being Unlawfully in a Dwelling
  • -Obstruct Peace Officer

The youth has outstanding criminal charges from December 30,2021 of:

  • -Being Unlawfully in a Dwelling at 504 Pacific Avenue
  • -Obstruct Police Officer

Both males spent the night in custody at Balmoral Police Station and appeared before Her Worship, Justice of the Peace Denette Ellard today, Tuesday July 6,2021

CAMPBELL is a former Ontario High School basketball champion who attended college in North Dakota

CAMPBELL was remanded into custody at the Thunder Bay Jail.

The 16 year old youth D.I. was released yet again to his mother in Ajax on a $5000 no deposit bail with conditions:

  • -10pm to 6am curfew
  • -stay out of Thunder Bay except for court attendance
  • -no contact with victims
  • -reside every single night at his mother’s home.

Murders Thunder Bay vs other Ontario Cities

Thunder Bay maintained its title as the murder capital of Canada in 2018,  For the third consecutive year - and the fourth time in the last five years

 It has been announced again that Thunder Bay is the Murder Capital of Canada for 2018 in Canada for CMAs with populations between 100,000 to less than 500,000 people

Thunder Bay had the highest rate in that category with 6.38 homicides per 100,000.

Thunder Bay has the highest Opiod death Rate in Ontario

It’s made Thunder Bay the highest per capita opioid death rate in Ontario.

The 44 deaths were a 40 per cent increase from 2017, a year in which Thunder Bay also held the highest provincial rate.

Between July 2017 and June 2018, nearly 3,900 naloxone kits were handed out by the Thunder Bay District Health Unit and local pharmacies, 

 

 

Thunder Bay is that the homicide rate for 2017 is down from 2016 when it stood at 6.62 per 100,000
