THUNDER BAY, ONTAIRO – Auguest 12, 2019 (LSN) The Thunder Bay Police Service is issuing a Community Safety Advisory about an offender who now resides in the city. This advisory follows careful review of the offender as it relates to issues of public safety.
Keith Thomas CURRIE, 50, will be residing in an area near Vickers and Finlayson Streets. He has moved to Thunder Bay following his release from an Institution in Alberta where he served a sentence for sexual offences.
CURRIE was released with various conditions including: Remaining within his approved residence between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.; not residing at any residence where children under the age of 16 reside; not be in the presence of any child under the age of 16 years old unless the child is in a public place and accompanied by an adult, parent or guardian.
CURRIE’s conditions also require him not to change his appearance without notifying the Thunder Bay Police Service and not to change his address of residency without notifying the Thunder Bay Police Service. He will also be required to report to the Thunder Bay Police Service headquarters at 1200 Balmoral Street.
This information is being issued to the public as a precautionary measure. Protecting public safety is among the Thunder Bay Police Service’s top priorities.
Members of the public are reminded that although CURRIE does present a safety risk, his rights are guaranteed under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. As such, the Thunder Bay Police Service will act to protect these rights if they are infringed.
