TBay OPP LAY MURDER CHARGE IN SHOOTING DEATH OF TORONTO DRUG DEALER

TBay OPP LAY MURDER CHARGE IN SHOOTING DEATH OF TORONTO DRUG DEALER

THREE OTHERS STILL TO BE CRIMINALLY CHARGED

THUNDER BAY, SHUNIAH, ONTARIO  ~~~~~~  May 20, 2022 (LSNews)  Hardworking Thunder Bay OPP Officers have made an arrest in relation to the shooting death of Toronto drug dealer SAMATAR WARSAME.

The body of 21 year old SAMATAR WARSAME, from Toronto was found on the shoulder of Highway 527, just north of the Highway 11/17 junction in Shuniah on January 13,2019.

Over 3 years later, OPP have identified suspects.

A woman who was released by Justice of the Peace Jerry Woods on $500 no deposit bail yesterday, Thursday May 19,2022 was arrested by OPP shortly after her release.

A 32 year old AMY ROSE-PODNAR was criminally charged with first degree murder of SAMATAR WARSAME.

PODNAR was arrested on Thursday May 12,2022 on a warrant for failing to attend court on the following criminal charges:

  • -assault APS Officer on FWFN on February 15,2021
  • -resist arrest February 15,2021
  • -breach of release order (curfew 9pm -7am) July 12, 2021
  • -breach of release order (police compliance check)
  • -possession of fentanyl for purpose of trafficking in Shuniah on October 22,2018
  • -possession of prohibited weapon (switch blade knife) October 22,2018

Despite all those criminal charges, Justice of the Peace Jerry Woods ordered AMY ROSE-PODNAR released from the Thunder Bay Correctional Center yesterday, Thursday May 19,2022 on $500 no deposit bail with conditions:

-live with surety 51 year old Luke Connell at 320 Brodie Street North

  • -no drugs
  • -no weapons

Her freedom was very short lived.  OPP moved quickly to arrest her again.

ROSE-PODNAR spent the night in custody at Thunder Bay OPP Station and made a remote court appearance this morning, Friday May 20,2022

A first degree murder charge is an automatic detention order and only a Superior Court Judge can order a release on bail.

ROSE-PODNAR was ordered not to contact her co-accused STEPHAN RICHARD PARR who is currently in custody at the Central North Correctional Center on a 30 month sentence. PARR has not been charged yet by OPP.

There are two other co-accused drug dealers from the Toronto area who have not been arrested yet.

ROSE-PODNAR has another court appearance on July 4,2022

The family of WARSAME had started a GoFundMe to build an Islamic mosque in Somalia to honour their drug dealing family member’s death. Their goal was to raise $20 000.  But three years later, they’ve only raised $4155.
