ILLEGAL HANDGUN, BRASS KNUCKLES, METH CUPCAKES & PISSING YOUNG CHILD

GREENSTONE OPP ARREST MATTHEW MARINO

GREENSTONE, ONTARIO~~~  June 22, 2020, (LSN)  On Saturday, June 20, 2020, hardworking Greenstone OPP Officers along with the assistance of the North West Region Crime Unit, North West Region Emergency Response Team, and OPP Canine Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in Geraldton, Ontario.

The search warrant was part of an ongoing investigation being conducted between the Greenstone and Thunder Bay Detachments.

As a result of the search, police seized several weapons including a Mauser Model 1914 .32 caliber pocket handgun and brass knuckles.

MATTHEW MARINO is alleged to have put  methamphetamine into a cupcake and fed it to the young child. He’s also accused of urinating on the boy in an effort to humiliate him. 

A 30 year old MATTHEW MARINO of Geraldton was  charged with the following offenses pursuant to the Criminal Code:

  • -Criminal negligence causing bodily harm 
  • -Indecent Act 
  • -Obstruct Justice 
  • -Fail to comply with a judicial release order 
  • -Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition 
  • -Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm/ammunition 
  • -Unauthorized possession of a firearm contrary to section 92(1) CC
  • -Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition contrary to section 86(1) CC
  • -Fail to comply with probation. 

 

MARINO spent the night in a Greenstone OPP jail cell and appeared by video in Thunder Bay Bail Court on Sunday, June 21, 2020 before Her Worship, Justice of the Peace Denette Ellard. 

Federal Crown Arturo Acosta & Provincial Crown Heather Bracken would not consent to the release of MATTHEW MARINO. 

MARINO was ordered not to contact two people. 

Hardworking Greenstone OPP drove MARINO to the Thunder Bay Jail.  

He will attempt to get released at a bail hearing most likely later this week.
