Homicide #7 Lyrina Jacob Charged

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO June 20, 2020 - 16:30 (LSN)   Appearing by audio this morning, Saturday June 20,2020 in Thunder Bay Bail Court from the Thunder Bay Police Station is 21 year LYRINA JACOB. 
 LYRINA JACOB has been charged with the Second Degree Murder of LYDIA ROSE JACOB, her mother.
 Her Worship, Justice of the Peace Denette Ellard is presiding.  Provincial Crown Attorney Matthew Paik is also on the phone line, along with Duty Counsel Sharon Scharfe. 

Yesterday, Friday June 19, 2020 hardworking Thunder Bay Police  officers with were called to an apartment complex at 320 Dawson Street following reports of a serious stabbing just before 2 pm. 
Paramedics with Superior North EMS  at the address to find LYDIA ROSE JACOB having sustained serious & life-threatening stab wounds. 
 Despite life-saving efforts by paramedics, LYDIA ROSE JACOB was pronounced deceased at the scene from the stab wounds. 
 Shortly after arriving on scene officers located and arrested a suspect, a 21 year old LYRINA JACOB, and transported her to the TBPS headquarters at 1200 Balmoral Street.

Justice of the Peace Ellard has NO AUTHORITY to consider bail for LYRINA JACOB 
 A murder charge in Canada means an automatic detention order is issued so she doesn’t have an entitlement to a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice. The next step will be to request a bail hearing before a Superior Court Justice.  
 Sources indicate that LYRINA JACOB is originally from the Wunnumin Indian Reserve also known as Big Beaverhouse. She is also the mother of a young boy. She’ll be turning 22 on July 5,2020. 
 LYRINA JACOB is heading to the Thunder Bay Correctional Center. Her next court appearance is June 26,2020. 

 It is not known what the relationship is between LYRINA & LYDIA is yet. 

LYRINA JACOB made a Facebook post yesterday with in minutes of the murder stating “I AM SORRY”
