Possessing child pornography
THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO November 29, 2019 - 11:15 (LSN) Police Media Release States: The Thunder Bay Police Service has made an arrest in connection with an ongoing investigation of accessing child pornography.
Officers with the service’s Cyber Crimes Unit started an investigation in October when they located suspicious files that were made available for download.
Through the course of their online investigation officers learned the files being shared were consistent with child pornography and that the address of the user accessing those files was local to Thunder Bay.
As a result of these findings, police obtained and executed a search warrant at a home in the 100 block of Robertson Street on Tuesday, Nov. 26. Evidence connected to this ongoing investigation was seized, including several devices, during this search.
Police examined that evidence anWe d on Thursday, Nov. 28 arrested and charged a male accused.
Jason William SPARLING, 42, of Thunder Bay, is charged with Accessing Child Pornography and Possession of Child Pornography.
He appeared in bail court Friday and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date of Dec. 3, 2019.
