DRUG DEALER SENTENCED

January 27,2017

A 30 year old DALE VANDENBROEKE appeared before Judge Pelletier today to be sentenced for his crimes as a result of the largest drug bust in Thunder Bay history. Project Recover was carried out by the Thunder Bay Police. He's supposed to be there at 2 pm but he's not present. His family, lawyer and judge are all present. The court patiently waits. He arrives 20 minutes late. He apologizes to the Judge who is not impressed. He's represented by lawyer Gil Labine.

VANDENBROEKE has a strange looking Mohawk type haircut, he's wearing glasses that are clearly to small for his head and he has a down winter jacket with a fur trimmed hood on. He plead guilty last year to his charges.

In March of 2016, Thunder Bay Police began intercepting VANDENBROEKE’S phone calls. He made the police investigation easy by clearly talking about his criminal plans and not speaking in any type of code.

As a result, police obtained a search warrant and seized 5350 grams of cocaine, 4960 grams of marijuana, 2 grams of mushrooms, 120 hydromorphs as well as MDMA. There was also scales and packaging equipment. Also seized was 34 500$ in cash.

When asked if he has anything to say by the Judge, he states he's really sorry and ready to pay his debt to society.

The pre-sentence report states he does not have a drug addiction. This was a crime committed for profit. The report also states that the divorce of his parents left him emotional and he felt he needed to earn money to help his mother.

Because he plead guilty early, this is a mitigating factor.

He's sentenced to 58 months of federal penitentiary time. He's forfeited the 34 500$ in cash. He has a DNA order and a weapons ban.

The charges against his girlfriend Jessica Hannaford-Fillion were withdrawn because Vandenbroeke accepted responsibility.
