Councillor-At-Large Peng You registered as Candidate for Mayor
City of Thunder Bay
THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO ~~~~~ July 6, 2022 (LSNews) Councillor-At-Large Peng You registered with City Hall on July 5 th, 2022 to run as Candidate for Mayor in the upcoming election. You was deliberating whether to run for another term as Councillor-At-Large or take a bigger step and go for Mayor. On Canada Day, he made the announcement that he would run for Mayor. He feels that he’s learned lots from constituents and officials over the past four years and sincerely wants to continue to contribute to this community.
In the 2018 municipal election, You had over 20,000 votes, the most votes of anyone elected to that council. You finished second in his run for the provincial election last month in Thunder Bay-Superior North, securing the most amount of votes the Conservatives have had in that riding in decades and being defeated by only 800 votes. You now has very good connections with the current government which would be beneficial.
If elected as Mayor, You plans to focus on economic growth and bringing new businesses and new money to our City, including partnering with Indigenous, local, national and international businesses. We need to open the door to create a brighter financial future for everyone.
Also, this city has to be safe for everyone and we have to be united. We are all on one big ship and we have to paddle that boat in the same direction to succeed.
