COCAINE, CRACK COCAINE SEIZED IN FORT FRANCES
FORT FRANCES, ONTARIO ~~~~~ July 5, 2022 (LSNews) Allison Lawrence, A/Media Relations Coordinator,OPP is reporting On June 22, 2022 at approximately 12:45 a.m., Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Rainy River District Detachment officers were conducting patrol in the city of Fort Frances when they observed a rental car parked in a parking lot.
After approaching the vehicle, the two occupants fled. Further investigation revealed evidence of drug activity.
A search of the personal motor vehicle was conducted, and Rainy River District OPP officers seized:
- approximately 580 grams of cocaine/crack cocaine;
- over $19,000 in Canadian currency;
- three cell phones; and,
- scales and other evidence of drug trafficking.
Richard RONMARK, 43 of Fort Frances and Diane SMITH, 46 of Naicatchewenin First Nation were arrested and charged with:
· possession for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to sec. 5(2) of the Drugs and Substances Act
· possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000, contrary to sec. 345(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
Richard RONMARK appeared before an Ontario Court of Justice in Fort Frances on July 1, 2022 to answer to the charges. Diane SMITH will appear before an Ontario Court of Justice in Fort Frances on August 15, 2022 to answer to the charges.
