OPP KENORA MAKE ARREST IN COUNTERFEIT MONEY

KENORA, ONTARIO  ~~~~~~   July 12, 2022 (LSNews)  Constable Jason Canfield Community Safety/Media Relations Officer reports that members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested a person in relation to the counterfeit money that has been spent in the Kenora area.

On Wednesday June 29, 2022, at 9:12 a.m. Police responded to a call of a person attempting to purchase goods with fake money on Golf Coarse Road in the City of Kenora. Police attended and located the person nearby where he was arrested.

Police located and seized $18,430 in fake American and Canadian currency.

As a result of the investigations 28-year-old Michael ANDY of Kenora has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offences.

·     Possessing Counterfeit Money-have in custody, sec 450(b) CC

·     Uttering Counterfeit Money-utter, sec 452(a)CC X3

·     Failure to Comply with a Release order-other than to attend court, sec 145(5)(a) CC

The accused was held for bail.

 It has been announced again that Thunder Bay is the Murder Capital of Canada for 2018 in Canada for CMAs with populations between 100,000 to less than 500,000 people

It’s made Thunder Bay the highest per capita opioid death rate in Ontario.

The 44 deaths were a 40 per cent increase from 2017, a year in which Thunder Bay also held the highest provincial rate.

Between July 2017 and June 2018, nearly 3,900 naloxone kits were handed out by the Thunder Bay District Health Unit and local pharmacies, 

 

 

Thunder Bay is that the homicide rate for 2017 is down from 2016 when it stood at 6.62 per 100,000

Greater Sudbury's murder rate is  remains one of the lowest in Canada. murder rate was 0.61 per 100,000 people
