HALF POUND OF COCAINE IN THUNDER BAY SOCIAL HOUSING?

NO PROBLEM TO RECEIVE BAIL IN THUNDER BAY

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  ~~~~~~   July 7, 2022  (LSNews)  Hardworking Thunder Bay Police Officers were called on Wednesday June 29, 2022 by Thunder Bay Social Housing regarding a vulnerable person at 277 Pearl Street who may have had his home take over by drug dealers.

Officers entered the apartment and found a male & female in the bathroom with a cocaine contaminated scale.

The white female had at least five crack rocks in her pocket. Police also located baggies containing crack & powder cocaine. Approximately 101 grams of crack cocaine was seized along with 146 grams of powder cocaine. Cash & scales were seized.

A 38 year old white female, AMANDA DAWN MARTIN of Thunder Bay was criminally charged with:

  • -Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • -Possession of a Prohibited Weapon

A 40 year old JOHN MARTIN RECOLLET of Thunder Bay was criminally charged with:

  • -Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • -Possession of a Prohibited Weapon -Possession of Proceeds of Crime

AMANDA DAWN MARTIN was held at the Thunder Bay Correctional Center until today, Thursday July 7,2022.

MARTIN was ordered released by Justice of the Peace Nancy Tulloch with conditions:

  • -reside with her boyfriend
  • -9pm to 6am curfew
  • -no weapons
  • -no drugs or paraphernalia
  • -no contact with victim

MARTIN was released with a future court appearance.

On May 23, 2017 

The governments of Canada and Ontario celebrated the grand opening of 1100 Donald Street East today, adding eight units of affordable housing in Thunder Bay. The Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour, and Member of Parliament for Thunder Bay-Superior North, and  Honourable Bill Mauro, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Member of Provincial Parliament for Thunder Bay-Atikokan.

The following projects were celebrated: 

  • Twenty units of affordable housing at 410-412 Victoria Avenue East in Thunder Bay, which received nearly $1.5 million. Eight units are designated for persons with restricted mobility.
  • Eight units of affordable housing at 277 Pearl Street in Thunder Bay, received $383,182.
  • 1100 Donald Street East today, adding eight units received $383,183 in combined federal and provincial funding

Murders Thunder Bay vs other Ontario Cities

Thunder Bay maintained its title as the murder capital of Canada in 2018,  For the third consecutive year - and the fourth time in the last five years

 It has been announced again that Thunder Bay is the Murder Capital of Canada for 2018 in Canada for CMAs with populations between 100,000 to less than 500,000 people

It’s made Thunder Bay the highest per capita opioid death rate in Ontario.

The 44 deaths were a 40 per cent increase from 2017, a year in which Thunder Bay also held the highest provincial rate.

Between July 2017 and June 2018, nearly 3,900 naloxone kits were handed out by the Thunder Bay District Health Unit and local pharmacies, 

 

 

Thunder Bay is that the homicide rate for 2017 is down from 2016 when it stood at 6.62 per 100,000

Greater Sudbury's murder rate is  remains one of the lowest in Canada. murder rate was 0.61 per 100,000 people
