CAR THIEF ARRESTED BY THUNDER BAY POLICE WITH HELP OF CITIZENS

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  ~~~~~  July 12, 20222 (LSNews)   Hardworking Thunder Bay Police Officers received a phone call last night, Monday July 11,2022 from an employee at Badanai Motors at 399 Memorial Avenue regarding a stolen 2017 Audi A6 car.

TBPS MEDIA RELATIONS COORDINATOR SCOTT PARADIS REFUSING TO TELL THE PUBLIC AGAIN

A friend of the employee spotted the stolen vehicle at 9:53 pm leaving the Popeyes restaurants on Fort William Road and took a picture of the white male driver & vehicle. The picture was sent to the employee at Badanai who showed it to TBPS Officers.

TBPS Officers located the vehicle, with the help of the citizen at Walmart parking lot on Memorial Avenue.

The white male suspect ran on foot, heading north towards Central Avenue but was quickly apprehended & arrested by TBPS Officers.

Officers located a backpack in the stolen Audi containing a 26” black baton, folding knife and multi tool.

Officers learned the suspect was on bail for assaulting a woman and had conditions not to possess weapons.

A 39 year old LESLIE VARGA was criminally charged with:

  • -possession of stolen property over $5000
  • -possession of weapon for purpose dangerous to public
  • -breach of bail (no weapons)

VARGA was held overnight in a jail cell at Balmoral Police Station and appeared by video before Justice of the Peace Jerry Woods this morning, Tuesday July 12,2022

VARGA was ordered released on $300 no deposit bail with conditions:

  • -do not attend Badanai Motors
  • -report address to Thunder Bay Police within 24 hours
  • -no weapons

VARGA has another court appearance on August 9,2022

TBPS Media Relations Coordinator Scott Paradis isn’t telling the public again.

Hiring a former TBLAZYWATCH employee to communicate for TBPS has been a disaster for years.

Other Police Departments use real Police Officers to communicate. But in Thunder Bay, our Police Service hired two that might be of the worst TBLAZYWATCH employees ever.
