VISIT Milwaukee launches Milwaukee Hotel Month

Hotel deals from 43 Milwaukee-area hotels

MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN  ~~~~~~  March 1, 2021  (LSN)   As the country approaches the one-year mark of the COVID-19 pandemic and many are looking for an opportunity to escape their homes, VISIT Milwaukee is launching the perfect solution: Milwaukee Hotel Month. For the entire month of March, 43 Milwaukee-area hotels are offering exclusive packages and daily room rates starting at $75.

Not only will this campaign offer the community fantastic deals for a well-deserved weekend of relaxation, but this is an excellent opportunity to support these incredible hotels.  According to the U.S. Travel Association, since March 2020, the U.S. travel industry has suffered more than $500 billion in pandemic-related losses, and data from analytics firm STR shows that hotel occupancy in Milwaukee is down 45% year-over-year.

“Our hotels have been devastated by the pandemic,” VISIT Milwaukee CEO Peggy Williams-Smith said.  “And we wanted to provide some relief by creating an opportunity to give back to them and increase their occupancy through a regional campaign aimed at locals and visitors alike. Milwaukee is fortunate, as our hotel partners have worked hard to prioritize safety for both their associates and guests.”

Hotel stays have been consistently ranked as a low-risk activity throughout the pandemic, according to state-level medical associations from across the country. Thanks to the enhanced cleaning procedures and implemented safety precautions, guests can experience a safe way to book a mini getaway without the hassles or concerns of planning a trip. 

Many of these hotels are also offering generous add-ons and upgrades to their packages, so guests can truly treat themselves. Some upgrades include a complimentary bottle of wine or champagne at the Hyatt Place Milwaukee Downtown; an upgrade to a suite and gourmet snack bag at the Brewhouse Inn & Suites; and a four-course, farm-to-table breakfast plus a wine and cheese hour at the Westphal Mansion Inn Bed & Breakfast.

In addition to the hotel deals, VISIT Milwaukee will be donating $50,000, divided evenly between the participating hotels. On top of this, VISIT Milwaukee will be supporting Milwaukee Hotel Month with a paid advertising and earned media campaign targeting local, outstate Wisconsin, and Chicago audiences, as well as a room night giveaway from participating hotels. More details about the giveaway and how to nominate your friends and family to win will be released on VISIT Milwaukee’s social media channels mid-March.

“It was important to us to thank our hotel partners by utilizing money that was earmarked for the DNC to support them during Hotel Month,” Williams-Smith said. “They have been incredibly resilient and supportive throughout this tumultuous year and we wanted to be able to show them our support.”

NORTHERN, ONTARIO  ~~~~~~~   September 23, 2021  (LSNews)  The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms has issued a legal warning letter to the Ontario Government on behalf of four clients demanding the vaccine passport mandate be revoked immediately. The law requires Ontarians as young as 12 to provide proof of two doses of the Covid mRNA vaccination as of September 22, 2021, or be denied access to a wide range of businesses and organizations, including field trips to city facilities. The Justice Centre has notified the Province that it will file a legal action should Ontario fail to halt its unconstitutional discrimination against those who have not yet chosen to receive the experimental vaccines.

A black male attempted to run from TBPS Officers but didn’t get very far. He put up a struggle while being arrested.
