THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO November 5, 2019 –(LSN) – Thunder Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is advising that Highway 61 north of the Broadway Avenue intersection will be closed to traffic from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. today, Tuesday, November 5, 2019. Highway 61 will be closed at the Canadian National (CN) overpass bridge as OPP Technical Collision Investigators, Forensic Identification Services and CN Police investigate a collision that involved an over height vehicle colliding with the bridge on Monday, November 4

The OPP is requesting the motoring public to utilize the detour routes at this time.

TBFR responds to Garage and RV fire on Alberta St

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO ~~~  July 15, 2020 (LSN)  At 16:41 this afternoon Thunder Bay Fire Rescue crews were dispatched to a report of a garage fire in the area of Alberta St. First arriving fire crews encountered a large volume of fire and smoke at the rear of a residence at that location. A small garage, an RV trailer and a large portable tarp shelter were completely engulfed in flames by the time fire fighters were on scene.  Fire fighters worked to deploy attack lines from multiple pieces of apparatus to attempt to quickly knock the flames down to protect the adjacent residence and a neighboring home.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were dispatched just after 1:46 a.m. on Sunday, July 12 to the 400 block of Frederica Street West following reports of an assault that had just occurred.

While making the arrest, Officers discovered a concealed handgun on 35 year old DAVID ALLAN MARTELL. It was a replica pellet gun.

MARTELL was wanted on a warrant since July 2,2020 for allegedly robbing an individual of cash while armed with a hatchet.
