North Shore Health Care Foundation Heart-Felt Thanks – Thank A Health Worker Campaign

COOK COUNTY, MINNESOTA  ~~~~~~  February 9, 2021  (LSN)    The North Shore Health Care Foundation is proud to launch the Heart-Felt Thanks – Thank A Health Worker Campaign in the month of February, to recognize local health care workers for their role in keeping our communities safe throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Our local health care workers have been doing an extraordinary job responding to COVID-19, working under strenuous protocols for nearly a year now,” said Jerry Lilja, President – North Shore Health Care Foundation. “As an organization that advocates for health and emergency services, we want to say a big thanks to everyone who works in our health care facilities, Cook County Public Health & Human Services, EMS units and the Cook County Emergency Operations Center. Our frontline workers have been living in PPE for months, showing up each day risking their own health for ours, and they deserve to be recognized.”

An Expression of Gratitude

The Heart-Felt Thanks Campaign will include handwritten cards to each staff member and/or volunteer First Responder from the Board of the North Shore Health Care Foundation.  Totaling nearly 300 in Cook County, they will also receive a small gift bag from the Foundation with soothing hand lotion and lip balm sourced through the Cook County Whole Foods Coop, a certificate for a coffee and treat redeemable at local businesses including Holiday in Grand Marias or Tofte, the Java Moose, Fika Coffee in Lutsen, or the Grand Portage Trading Post.  Bright colored banners thanking essential health workers will be displayed at the Sawtooth Mountain Clinic in Grand Marais and Birch Grove Clinic, North Shore Health Hospital & Care Center, Grand Portage Health Center, Grand Marais Family Dentistry, and Cook County Public Health & Human Services.

Invitation to the Public – Send a Postcard
As part of the Heart-felt Thanks Campaign, the Foundation has printed postcards for members of the public to write a message of thanks to any health worker they chose. The postcards are free and are available at the YMCA, clinic and hospital waiting rooms, and at supporting partners Fika Coffee in Lutsen, the Java Moose in Grand Marais, Holiday Stores in Grand Marais and Tofte, the Grand Portage Trading Post and at Grand Marais City Hall.

The North Shore Health Care Foundation proactively identifies opportunities to expand equitable health care and healthy living in Cook County and champions solutions through funding, education, and advocacy. The Foundation has awarded over $1 million in grants since 1995 and has developed critical programs that address gaps in health services.
