Cook County to Begin Vaccinating Residents Age 70 and Older This Wednesday

Community Center on Wednesday, February 3 and Thursday, February 4.

COOK COUNTY, MINNESOTA ~~~~~~  February 1, 2021  (LSN)   Officials from the Cook County Emergency Operations Center and Public Health announced today that county residents age 70 or older will receive the COVID-19 vaccine beginning this week, at the Cook County Community Center.

“As a part of our phased approach to community vaccination, we are excited to begin offering vaccine to county residents age 70 or older,” said Co-Incident Commander and Public Health Supervisor Grace Grinager.

Vaccine events will be held at the Cook County Community Center, Grand Marais,  on Wednesday, February 3 and Thursday, February 4.

Registration is required for these and all future vaccine events. Visit the Cook County COVID-19 hub site at www.cookcountycovid19.org for a link to complete the online registration. To register, individuals will need provide:

  • Name, address, phone number and date of birth 
  • A valid email address

Assistance is available for those who do not have internet access or need additional help with registration. Call (218) 387-3668 or email covid-19hotline@co.cook.mn.us or reach out to a trusted friend, family member or service provider.

Grinager asked people to refrain from calling or emailing about being vaccinated early. Adults age 65 and older, people with high risk medical conditions and other essential workers will have access to a vaccine as part of the Minnesota Department of Health’s phased distribution plan.

For current information on vaccine distribution, please visit the Cook County COVID-19 hub site at www.cookcountycovid19.org. Cook County Public Health will continue to post information on who is currently eligible to register for a vaccine as well as how people in that group can sign up to be vaccinated weekly on Monday.
