THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO ~~~~~~~  August 24, 2021  (LSNews)  Hardworking Marathon OPP Officers arrested a 66 year old woman, yesterday Monday August 23,2021 for several historical sexual offences on a minor.

A 66 year old HEATHER MCMULLEN of Marathon Ontario is facing numerous criminal charges related to several sexual assaults on a young teenage boy.

OPP Officer Attacked 8 people charged

400 block of Portage Ave, Fort Frances

NORTHERN, ONTARIO  ~~~~~~~~~   August 23, 2021 (LSNews)    At approximately 3:30pm on Thursday August 19, 2021 a member of the Rainy River District Ontario Provincial Police was working in the area of the 400 block of Portage Ave in the Town of Fort Frances. While at that location the officer identified a person who was wanted on an arrest warrant. The officer attempted to arrest that individual, and multiple other persons became involved and interfered with that arrest. This interference escalated and the police vehicle was damaged by the multiple persons and the officer was assaulted with a weapon by an individual. The officer and members of the public were not injured in the altercation.

It is approximately 200 acres in size at this time. Due to the progress of the Horne Fire, ongoing drought conditions, and elevated levels of fire danger, area closures are necessary to maintain public health and safety. Closed areas will be signed where possible and monitored to ensure compliance.

RIP PILOT PETER BALODIS

Peter was killed in Thunder Bay on Monday

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  ~~~~~~~  August 20, 2021 (LSNews)  Our 374 F/L Chisholm Squadron family is saddened by the passing of former WO1 Peter Balodis

Peter graduated from 374 Sqn in 2008 as Squadron Commander. He was a talented musician and Band Major and and he achieved his Glider Pilot’s license as a cadet. He continued on within the cadet organization joining the CIC. He also continued his passion for aviation, flying with MAG Aerospace and Bearskin Airlines and most recently part of the aviation team fighting fires in Ontario this summer.
