SIJHL ANNOUNCES RETURN TO PLAY

February 4th and 5th

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  January 28, 2022  (LSNews) The Superior International Junior Hockey League today announces that it’s Board of Governors has unanimously approved a return-to-play plan that will see regular season games resume on Friday, February 4, 2022

The regular season will not be extended as a result of the Province of Ontario’s 27- day pause on many activities and sports, including hockey. It will conclude as originally planned with the final games being played on Saturday March 26th.

The playoff tournament for the Bill Salonen Cup is slated to begin on Tuesday March 29th.

Additionally, the SIJHL has postponed it’s 2021-22 Showcase, originally scheduled from February 8th through 10th, to March 1st through 3rd. The Showcase will remain in Spooner, Wisconsin home of the Wisconsin Lumberjacks. The complete SIJHL schedule for the remainder of the regular season will be released in the coming days.

The league’s re-opening weekend schedule is as follows:

Thunder Bay North Stars at Kam River Fighting Walleye, 7:30pm EST, NorWest Arena, Oliver Paipoonge, ON

Fort Frances Lakers at Wisconsin Lumberjacks, 7:05pm CST, Spooner Civic Center, Spooner, Wisconsin

Saturday February 5

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO ~~~~~~   June 13, 2022 (LSNews)  Hardworking Thunder Bay Police Officers have arrested a suspect in the shooting murder of 29 year old ADRIAN ANTHONY RICHARDSON at 453 Hodder Avenue on May 2,2022

The suspect was arrested yesterday, Sunday June 12,2022 and made a bail court appearance before Justice of the Peace Tobey Meyer.

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  ~~~~~~    June 12, 2022 (LSNews)  Hardworking Thunder Bay Police Officers received a call from Leon Giardino yesterday, Saturday June 11,2022 after his silver BMW was stolen.  

TBPS Officers located the stolen silver BMW and conducted a traffic stop when the white male thief exited the vehicle to run.

With the saturated soil conditions due to extended flood conditions, trees can become weaker as the root base doesn’t have the holding power they normally have, making them much more susceptible to strong winds. Trees and power lines are never a good combination.

It’s alleged that a male & two females who were under the influence of alcohol approached local criminal rapist, 34 year old KEVIN MITCHELL TURTLE who was sitting on the steps of St Andrew’s Church at 207 Brodie Street South and complained about him raping  a family member.  The trio then began striking & kicking KEVIN TURTLE.

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO   ~~~~~   June 9, 2022 (LSNews)  A 19 year old CALEB MALIK ALEXANDER IRONMONGER JIMENEZ of Brampton, Ontario appeared by phone yesterday, Wednesday June 8,2022 to plead guilty to possession of fentanyl as part of a plea deal with the Federal Crown Attorney. 

IRONMONGER JIMENEZ was found in a vacant rental unit on Friday July 9,2021 after the landlord phoned Thunder Bay Police about an unwanted person.
