21 st Annual Christmas Parade of Lights

fundraising goal of $40 000

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  November 18, 2019  (LSN) Thunder Bay’s Parade of Lights 21st Annual Christmas Parade of Lights is set for December 7 th, 2019. The parade of trucks will be leaving Manitoulin’s yard at 7:00 p.m. and heading to the Intercity route. 

Last year, over 100 decorated trucks participated and wowed the crowds of people waiting with families and friends. The event raised $34,422.52 and was divided equally between the benefiting charities. Your support will once again enhance the lives of local children & youth in these charities:

  • Autism Ontario - Thunder Bay & District Chapter
  • George Jeffrey Children’s Centre
  • Thunder Bay Therapeutic Riding Association
  • Special Olympics - Thunder Bay

This event can only take place with the continued support of the Thunder Bay Trucking Community, through companies and people like you.

Children, youth, and young adults with Special Needs in Thunder Bay received
$34 422.52 last year because of the Parade of Lights. Autism Ontario - Thunder Bay & District Chapter, George Jeffrey Children’s Centre, Special Olympics - Thunder Bay & Thunder Bay Therapeutic Riding Association children, youth, and young adults benefit from both the donations and the increased awareness the Parade of Lights brings to their causes.

We are very excited to be offering a sensory-friendly area for a second year. Drivers have been instructed that all music & horn honking be stopped in this area. See Parade Route map for location.

It is clear that the Parade of Lights has turned into a magical evening, a seasonal favourite among young and old alike. Thousands line the streets for an opportunity to be part of the excitement and they truly appreciate the efforts of each entrant in the Parade of Lights.

POLICE RESCUE BABY FROM DRUNK DRIVER

NAPS Officers Osnaburgh 63 Indian Reserve

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO   ~~~~~~~~  April 5, 2021  (LSN)  Hardworking Nishnawbe Aski Police Officers were busy last night,  on the Osnaburgh 63 Indian Reserve AKA Mishkeegogamang First Nation.  The NAPS Officers received a traffic complaint about a woman driving erratically on the Reserve.  Officers investigated and allegedly found an intoxicated woman who had been driving, along with an intoxicated passenger who had wa 1 year old baby in the back seat of the vehicle. NAPS Officers also found a half empty bottle of Silent Sam vodka, along with 7 empty Smirnoff Ice bottles and 5 full ones. The 1 year old baby was in the back seat with a white powdery substance all over its face.  The baby was not secured in a car seat as required by law.

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  ~~~~~~  April 5, 2021  (LSN) 17:00  Police Media Release States:  Police released the scene Monday connected to an ongoing assault investigation on the city’s southside.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were initially dispatched to a reported weapons call at a residential address in the 800 block of Alberta Street just before 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 4.

Advisory group hopes to collect honest feedback to identify problems

COOK COUNTY, MINNESOTA  ~~~~~~  April 2, 2021  (LSN)  The Cook County Equity in Justice Initiative (“EJI”) will launch an online survey Wednesday with the goal of collecting perceptions of criminal justice in the county.

The survey elicits anonymous responses in an effort to collect the most honest and comprehensive feedback from the maximum number of participants who have interacted with criminal justice in Cook County. Any person with experience in Cook County’s system is asked to respond. This includes not just defendants, crime victims, and jurors, but also people who interact with the system as part of their jobs.

Sources indicate that the death occurred in a remotely settled area along the Via Rail line called Mud River.  The next stop heading East by rail is the  Ferland Station.

The robbery suspect had brandished a knife demanding cash and fled. It didn’t take long for hardworking TBPS Officers to catch the suspect.

Charged by Internet Child Exploitation Unit

SUDBURY, ONTARIO  ~~~~~ March 31, 2021  (LSN)  On March 24, 2021, our Internet Child Exploitation and Computer Forensics Units assisted by our Emergency Response and Intelligence Units executed a Search Warrant at a residence in Greater Sudbury.

As a result of the investigation, 24 year old Jessie Bernard was arrested and charged with the following offences:
