WTIP Announces Lineup for 15th Annual Radio Waves Music Festival

COOK COUNTY, MINNESOTA ~~~~~  April 13, 2022 (LSNews)  Grand Marais, WTIP Community Radio is thrilled to announce the lineup for the 2022 Radio Waves Music Festival, Sept. 9 to 11, at Sweetheart’s Bluff in the Grand Marais Recreation Area. This marks the 15th year of this family-friendly festival, which features an array of diverse local and regional acts that span musical genres from folk singer-songwriters, classic country, R & B, rap and alt-rock to funk, zydeco and New Orleans jazz. The event showcases three days of live music under the big sky and bright stars on the North Shore of Lake Superior

Twenty-two acts will take the stage at this year’s festival, with nine new to the festival, including Ginger Bones, Dre AKA Jamaican, Echoes from Iron Ore and Superior Siren. The weekend will also feature performances by a number of regional performers, including: Barbara Jean Meyers & Mike Lewis, Sam Miltich with Briand Morrison & the Clearwater Hot Club, Rich Mattson & the Northstars, The Evening Stars, The Splints, Cryote, Colleen “Boss Mama” Myhre, and New Salty Dog.

The complete music lineup is online at wtip.org – just look for “Radio Waves Music Festival” under the EVENTS drop-down menu. Festival hours are Friday, 3 to 10 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m

A favorite of visitors and area residents as well as performing musicians, Radio Waves is held rain or shine - with two stages housed under a large tent - and includes on-site food vendors. WTIP offers pre-sale weekend passes online. Admission, also available at the gate, is $15 per day on Friday and Saturday, $10 on Sunday, or $30 for the full Festival. Admission is free to children 12 and under. Campsite reservations at the Grand Marais Rec Park are recommended.

The Radio Waves Music Festival is made possible in part with funding from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, with additional support from Visit Cook County, the Gunflint Trail Association and the Grand Marais Area Tourism Association.

As a result, Director Martino has caused a charge to be laid against the officer.

TBPS Officers arrived quickly to investigate and located an indigenous woman suffering from injuries after being attacked by a male. Officers also learned she had been unlawfully confined. The woman was brought for medical attention at the hospital.

The woman had been wanted since April 22,2022 but TBPS Media Relations Coordinator Scott Paradis never told the public.
