21 st Annual Christmas Parade of Lights

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  November 18, 2019  (LSN) Thunder Bay’s Parade of Lights 21st Annual Christmas Parade of Lights is set for December 7 th, 2019. The parade of trucks will be leaving Manitoulin’s yard at 7:00 p.m. and heading to the Intercity route. 

Last year, over 100 decorated trucks participated and wowed the crowds of people waiting with families and friends. The event raised $34,422.52 and was divided equally between the benefiting charities. Your support will once again enhance the lives of local children & youth in these charities:

  • Autism Ontario - Thunder Bay & District Chapter
  • George Jeffrey Children’s Centre
  • Thunder Bay Therapeutic Riding Association
  • Special Olympics - Thunder Bay

This event can only take place with the continued support of the Thunder Bay Trucking Community, through companies and people like you.

Children, youth, and young adults with Special Needs in Thunder Bay received
$34 422.52 last year because of the Parade of Lights. Autism Ontario - Thunder Bay & District Chapter, George Jeffrey Children’s Centre, Special Olympics - Thunder Bay & Thunder Bay Therapeutic Riding Association children, youth, and young adults benefit from both the donations and the increased awareness the Parade of Lights brings to their causes.

This will help us reach or exceed our 2019 fundraising goal of $40 000.

We are very excited to be offering a sensory-friendly area for a second year. Drivers have been instructed that all music & horn honking be stopped in this area. See Parade Route map for location.

It is clear that the Parade of Lights has turned into a magical evening, a seasonal favourite among young and old alike. Thousands line the streets for an opportunity to be part of the excitement and they truly appreciate the efforts of each entrant in the Parade of Lights.

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO December 21, 2019 - 14:15 (LSN)  Police Media Release States:  Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were dispatched to a business in the 300 block of Queen Street following reports of a firearm being discharged shortly after noon on Saturday, Dec. 21.

When officers arrived at the Pet-Tastic at the corner of Queen and High Streets they located a 25-year-old male who appeared to have been the victim of a recent assault.

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO December 19, 2019 - 16:00  (LSN)  Police Media Release States:  Members of the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Major Crimes Unit began an investigation in November 2019 into an alleged historical sexual assault that took place in 1978.

The initial investigation led to several other victims coming forward.

As a result, the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Community Response Team located and arrested Stephen Alan David YOUNG, 68, of Thunder Bay, on Wednesday, Dec. 18.

SUDBURY, ONTARIO - December 2, 2019  (LSN)  his past weekend, the Greater Sudbury Police Service investigated several incidents involving impaired driving. As a result of these investigations, a total of six drivers (26, 28, 52, 55, and 61 year old men and a 20 year old woman) were charged with impaired operation in the three-day span.

None of their names can be released as the information has not yet been sworn to through the Court process.

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  December 6, 2019  (LSN)   Thunder Bay Professional Fire Fighter’s Association (TBPFFA) is urging Thunder Bay City Council to reject recommendations to cut essential Fire Rescue services across the Municipality.  A draft of the new Thunder Bay Fire Strategic Master Fire Plan that will be presented at Monday’s Committee of the Whole meeting, proposes several budget decreases that will negatively impact Fire Rescue response times as well as the general safety of on-duty firefighters.

GERALDTON, ONTARIO December 2, 2019 –(LSN) –  Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North West Region Crime Unit investigated as sexual assault complaint that was reported to the Greenstone OPP Detachment on May 23, 2019.

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO November 27, 2019 - 15:15 (LSN)  Police Media Release States:  The Thunder Bay Police Service is requesting public assistance in identifying a suspect linked to an arson investigation.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers were originally dispatched to a structural fire in the 600 block of Simpson Street after 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19. Police, and other emergency first responders, arrived and confirmed that the building at 636H Simpson Street was on fire.
