SAULT STE. MARIE, ONTARIO  March 10, 2020  (LSN)  On March 9, 2020 officers with Investigation Services arrested 37-year-old Jonathan Lowe for sexual assault.

It’s alleged on September 18, 2018 the accused had contact with someone for a sexual purpose without their consent. It is further alleged he distributed intimate images of the victim without their consent.

Ontario Comprehensive Strategy to Combat Human Trafficking

$307 million invested to protect children and youth, crack down on offenders

ST. CATHARINES, ONTARIO March 9, 2020  (LSN)  The Government of Ontario is taking strong action to protect children and youth, support survivors, raise awareness and hold offenders accountable by releasing Ontario's new anti-human trafficking strategy Friday.
Premier Doug Ford, Jill Dunlop, Associate Minister of Children and Women's Issues, and Solicitor General Sylvia Jones released today a new, comprehensive five-year strategy to combat human trafficking and end child sexual exploitation across the province. The new strategy is the largest total investment in dedicated anti-human trafficking supports and services in the country and is a major step forward in Ontario's fight against human trafficking.

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  March 5, 2020  (LSN)  The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) from Kenora along with the Thunder Bay Joint Forces Guns and Gangs Task Force began Project TENBURY, a one month investigation targeting individual(s) responsible for trafficking cocaine in Thunder Bay.

On February 25, 2020, two Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA) search warrants were executed in Thunder Bay. During the course of the investigation, officers seized 365 grams of cocaine, 57.6 grams of crack cocaine, 60 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 165 - 2mg xanax pills, 673 - 18mg hydromorphone pills and 99 - 80mg oxycodone pills.

SAULT STE. MARIE, ONTARIO  March 5, 2020  (LSN)  On March 3, 2020, officers with the Technological Crime Unit arrested 39-year-old Yvon Frechette for Possession of Child Pornography.

In April 2019, police began investigating Mr. Frechette.  The investigation resulted in a search warrant being executed on November 12, 2019.  A cell phone was seized during the search warrant and analysis identified various images of Child Pornography.

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO March 4, 2020 - 12:30 (LSN)  Police Media Release States: The Thunder Bay Police Service has arrested a second suspect connected to a March 3 homicide investigation.

Officers were originally dispatched to reports of an assault in progress in the 100 block of Picton Avenue just after midnight on Tuesday, March 3. When officers arrived they located two female victims outside near the street.

Paramedics transported both to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for further treatment of their injuries. One victim died from those injuries, the other remains in the hospital.

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO March 3, 2020 - 15:00 (LSN)  Police Media Release States: The Thunder Bay Police Service is making another appeal for public assistance as the investigation into a sudden death continues.

Police were alerted to the death after a passerby in the 300-block of Court Street South saw what they believed to be a body around 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020.

When police arrived they confirmed the presence of a deceased person. Members of the service’s Major Crimes Unit are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.

Police are now looking for witnesses who may have seen or interacted with a female, possibly in distress, in an area of Court Street South, between John Street and Fort William Road, between the hours of 11 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28 and 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 29.

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO March 3, 2020 - 14:00 (LSN)  Police Media Release States: Thunder Bay Police have arrested and charged a 20-year-old Thunder Bay woman with Second-Degree Murder and Aggravated Assault following an overnight incident that left one person dead and one other injured.

SAULT STE. MARIE, ONTARIO  March 3, 2020  (LSN)  On March 3, 2020 officers with Patrol Services arrested 37-year-old Chrystal Petrocco for possession of stolen property.

At 1:14 a.m. on March 3, 2020 officers observed a vehicle they knew was reported stolen on February 16, 2020. A traffic stop was conducted and the accused was arrested.
