STURGEON FALLS, ONTARIO  ~~  May 13, 2020  (LSN)  On May 11, 2020 at 10:55 p.m., members of the North East Region (NER) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) with the assistance of officers from the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) investigation on Front Street in the Municipality of West Nipissing (Sturgeon Falls).

OPP Seized .380 calibre Taurus TCP handgun

Nugget Motel on Portage Ave in Fort Frances

FORT FRANCES, ONTARIO ~~~   May 12, 2020  (LSN) On the evening of May 11, 2020 members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in the Rainy River District with assistance from the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau; Provincial Operations Intelligence Bureau; Northwest Region Emergency Response Team; Northwest Region Crime Unit; and OPP Canine Unit executed a search warrant at the Nugget Motel on Portage Ave in Fort Frances, Ontario. In executing the warrant the OPP located and seized a prohibited .380 calibre Taurus TCP handgun along other prohibited weapons including a butterfly knife, throwing star, and brass knuckles. The OPP also located a quantity of drugs including fentanyl and heroin; and Canadian currency.

WASHINGTON, D.C  ~~ May 11, 2020  (LSN)  To help coordinate implementation of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, which enters into force on July 1, U.S. Customs and Border Protection recently opened the USMCA Center.

Staffed with CBP experts from operational, legal, and audit disciplines, as well as with virtual representatives from Canadian and Mexican customs authorities, the USMCA Center is a cornerstone of CBP’s USMCA implementation plan and will serve as a central communication hub for CBP and the private sector community, including traders, brokers, freight forwarders and producers, ensuring a smooth and efficient transition from the North American Free Trade Agreement to USMCA.

SIOUX LOOKOUT, ONTARIO ~~  May 11, 2020  (LSN)  Members of the Sioux Lookout Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) working in partnership with the Lac Seul Police Service (LSPS) have laid drug trafficking charges following a domestic dispute.

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  ~~  May 11, 2020  (LSN)  On the 10th of May 2020, at approximately 8:30pm officers of the Thunder Bay OPP detachment responded to a report of a fatal all-terrain vehicle (ATV) collision on Magone Rd, Unorganized Twp.

OPP attended the scene along with paramedics and confirmed the person to be deceased. The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit (TTCI) attended and the cause of the collision is still under investigation.
