ACCUSED ATTEMPTED MURDERER RELEASED ON $3000 NO DEPOSIT BAIL

DOUGLAS WITOL of Ware Township

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  ~~~~~  October 19, 2020 (LSN)  Appearing by phone from the Thunder Bay Jail this morning, Monday October 19,2020 is 63 year old DOUGLAS WITOL of Ware Township.

Defence lawyer Ryan Green has reached an agreement with Crown Attorney Andrew Sadler on a consent release.

His Worship, Justice of the Peace Marcel Donio orders WITOL released on a $3000 no deposit bail with his 64 year old sister Cathy Couch as his surety.

WITOL must reside at his home on Laukka Lane in Ware Township.

  • -must not possess weapons
  • -no contact with victim or the witness
  • -cannot operate a motor vehicle

WITOL’S next court appearance is November 9,2020

ATTEMPTED MURDER IN WARE TOWNSHIP

Hardworking Thunder Bay OPP Officers responded to a near fatal incident yesterday, Wednesday September 9,2020 around 2:15 p.m. on Luakka Laine, Ware Township

OPP Officers and paramedics responded to a male who was seriously injured as a result of being hit by a motor vehicle.

The victim was brought to the Thunder Bay Hospital, then flown to Winnipeg and OPP conducted an investigation interviewing a neighbour who witnessed the incident.

As a result, a 63 year old DOUGLAS WITOL of Ware Township was arrested and criminally charged with:

  • -dangerous driving causing bodily harm
  • -attempted murder

WITOL spent the night in a jail cell at the Thunder Bay detachment and appeared in Bail Court this morning, Thursday September 10, 2020 before His Worship, Justice of the Peace Bruce Leaman

Provincial Crown Attorney Blair Hagen would not consent to the release of WITOL.

WITOL was remanded into custody and will be transported to the Thunder Bay Jail. His next court appearance is Monday September 14,2020
