So I decided to take a Covid Test

So I decided to take a Covid Test

By Katherine Day

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  ~~~   July 28, 2020  (LSN)  So I decided to get COVID19 tested even though I didn't have any symptoms and because I'd spent 24hrs being violently sick 2 Saturday's ago.

The real reason for this post is to ease your fears about having something stuck up yer nose. (If you ever have to do it)

Like most of everything else. The thought was worse than the procedure actually was.

What were the steps of getting tested you may wonder?

If you're in the Thunder Bay District. This is what I did.

#1 - I called the District Health Unit.
Got asked the standard questions
• Fever, • New onset of cough, • Worsening chronic cough, • Shortness of breath, • Difficulty breathing, • Sore throat, • Difficulty swallowing, • Decrease of loss of sense of taste or smell, • Chills, • Headaches, • Unexplained fatigue/malaise/muscle aches (myalgias), • Nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, • Pink eye (conjunctivitis), • Runny nose or nasal congestion without other known cause ETC

And I was told it was unlikely that I had Covid.

#2 - Decided to make an appointment anyway.
#3 - Was told to wait for a phone call to make said appointment
#4 - Within 24 hrs recieved call. (Asked Covid questions again)
#5 - Arrived at the drop off parking lot at the ER.
#6 - There are trailers set up for patients to be tested in. And there was a nice nurse outside directing people.

Once I entered the trailer. MASK required.
#7 - was asked to sanitize my hands and lead to a small office. The nurse then proceeded to ask me those covid questions again.

I was asked to lower my mask to only cover my mouth. And then he comes at me, with this long stick in his hand and says, "This won't hurt a bit" 🤣

Guess what?
It didn't hurt one bit. BUT it felt rather freaky feeling this instrument feel like it was never going to stop!

In fact, I felt it kind if left behind a bit of a tickle or an itch that I couldn't reach.

Violà. All done.
Easy Peasy.

No. How long was the wait for results?

2 days.

And I was able to look up my results using my Health Card #. One only gets called if they actually HAVE this stinkin virus.
