IGNITE THE FORT AND THE STAR OF BETHLEHEM

CELEBRATE THE HOLIDAY SEASON AT FORT WILLIAM HISTORICAL PARK

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  December 2, 2019  (LSN) Kindle your holiday spirit with two fun, familyfriendly events at Fort William Historical Park (FWHP)! Join us on December 7th and 8th for Ignite the Fort from 1:00pm to 6:00pm and the Star of Bethlehem from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
Ignite the Fort will feature exciting, family-friendly activities including wagon rides, toy and candle making, cookie decorating, candy making and traditional fudge, and artisan demonstrations such as tincicle and mukuk (birch bark basket) making. There will also be fun contests to win great prizes including gingerbread house making and fur pack toboggan pull, and visitors can dress up as a historic character to “Capture the Past” with a heritage-style holiday photo opportunity. Special guest, Santa Claus, will also make an appearance at Ignite the Fort.

Ignite the Fort will also feature a great opportunity to support the community. For $1.00 you will be able to purchase a bulb for the giant holiday tree, with proceeds being donated to the United Way of Thunder Bay. At 5:30pm we’ll “Ignite the Fort” with a brilliant tree lighting ceremony and carolling in the Main Square.

The festivities continue immediately following Ignite the Fort with the Star of Bethlehem event at the David Thompson Astronomical Observatory. Launch into an evening of discovery and intrigue as you uncover the most popular opinions about the origin of the Star of Bethlehem. You will also explore the night sky to find the Star of Bethlehem and other celestial wonders.

Ignite the Fort event-only and Star of Bethlehem event-only tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students, seniors and youth, and children 5 and under are FREE. You can also join us for a full evening of holiday family fun with the Stars Ignite Combo-Pass, which provides admission to Ignite the Fort and the Star of Bethlehem. Stars Ignite ComboPasses are $15 for adults, $11 for students, seniors (60+) and youth (6-12), and children 5 and under are FREE.

“We invite you to celebrate the holiday season at Fort William Historical Park’s Ignite the Fort and Star of Bethlehem events,” states Sergio Buonocore, FWHP’s General
Manager. “With plenty of fun, seasonal activities, these events offer a great opportunity to spend time with family and friends.”
