THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO January 27, 2022 (LSNews) USL League Two released the 2022 schedule today including the 12-game regular season schedule for the Thunder Bay Chill who will play in their 21st season in the league after a two-year absence due to the pandemic protocols. The Chill will face 2021 USL League Two National Champions Des Moines Menace at tbaytel [email protected] Park on Friday June 3, 2022.
The 2022 season will also see a re-alignment of divisions as both the Chill and Menace who dominated the last two decades with Heartland Division titles will move to the newly named Deep North Division. The division will also include four new teams in Minneapolis City SC, St. Croix SC, Peoria City, and FC Manitoba.
FC Manitoba replaces the previous WSA Winnipeg franchise and will be one of only two Canadian teams that will continue to participate in USL League Two which has a record breaking 108 teams participating in 2022. The Chill will start the season on the road in Winnipeg, Manitoba on May 28th and 29th .
The Chill will return home the following week to face the visiting National Champions Des Moines Menace and will add to the historical rivalry between the two clubs. Since the Chill joined the league, the teams have battled it out 64 times.
The Thunder Bay Chill will play a 12-game schedule with six home games and six away games. The Chill have confirmed their annual exhibition series with Winnipeg Lions on May 21st and 22nd where fans can get a preview of the 2022 team in a series of friendly matches
