Thunder Bay Chill opt Out of 2021 League Two Season
THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO ~~~~~~ February 2021 (LSN) The Thunder Bay Chill are announcing that due to the continued global pandemic, the club will not participate in the 2021 USL League Two season. This difficult decision was made from an abundance of caution, with the health and safety of everyone at the club as our top priority, including our incoming players, staff, supporters, and sponsors.
After careful thought and consideration, club leadership determined that the challenges of the existing health crises and border restrictions, are too great of an obstacle to our competition plans. We have therefore made the difficult decision to forego our participation in the 2021 USL League Two season.
“We absolutely support the Thunder Bay Chill decision,” said USL Vice President Joel Nash. “We live in times when it is of paramount importance for some of our clubs to think beyond soccer for the good of their communities, and we look forward to welcoming the Chill back even stronger in 2022.”
While we are bitterly disappointed about this turn of events, especially for the fans, players, and our supportive Heartland communities, we also vow to come back better than ever in 2022.
