The Salvation Army Welcomes New Executive Director

at the Journey to Life Centre on Cumberland St

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO ~~~~ August 5, 2020  (LSN)  The Salvation Army is pleased to welcome Gary V. Ferguson as the new Executive Director at the Journey to Life Centre on Cumberland St. as of July 27th. Gary was most recently the Director of Medical Supplies and Contracts for Shoppers Drug Mart and is eager to share his past experience and skills to create positive team-oriented results in his new role. 

He has extensive experience and training in organizational Accreditation as well as the development and implementation of Strategic plans. Gary brings several years of experience in Acute Care, Long-Term Care and Education. In the past, Gary has also been deeply involved in the social service sector as both a service provider and as a member on several regional and provincial boards.

Along with his experience in the social service sector, Gary has strong passion for helping others and has been involved with many charitable organizations in the region. He is a graduate of Lakehead University and has also attended the University of Michigan Engineering Department for LEAN training. Additionally, Gary brings the experience of Project Management, Life Skills Coaching, Change Management and group facilitation to the organization.

As The Salvation Army moves forward, Gary’s background and experience will be a tremendous asset as he leads our team through the transition into the new building and expanded programming.  He embraces the goals and visions that the local team has developed.  Gary looks forward to having a positive impact on many lives in Thunder Bay and improving our community as a result.

“I am truly grateful to have been given the opportunity to be part of this exciting time of growth within the organization.  I am also extremely honoured to carry on the legacy of humanitarian work that the Salvation Army has provided in our community for over 100 years. Together with the team I am looking forward to making a positive impact in the lives of the individual we serve,” said Gary Ferguson.
