Cook County Second Resident Case of COVID-19 Confirmed

Cook County Second Resident Case of COVID-19 Confirmed

Investigation and Contact Tracing to Begin

COOK COUNTY, MINNESOTA  July 21, 2020  (LSN)  Cook County received notice of its second resident case of COVID-19 this morning, as reported by the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) as part of its daily update. The infected resident is a female in her 20s.

After a person tests positive for COVID-19, local public health officials conduct a case investigation interview and subsequent contact tracing.  Contact tracing is the process of reaching out to high-risk contacts of a person with lab-confirmed COVID-19 and encouraging them to quarantine for 14 days.

“The time delay between our first and second resident cases is a testament to the vigilance of our residents and visitors in maintaining public health best practices,” said Emergency Operations Center Incident Co-Commander Grace Grinager.

“Continuing to follow public health best practices is the best way we can take care of one another as the pandemic continues,” Grinager stated. “Cover your cough, wash your hands frequently, stay six feet apart from others in crowded places, and wear a cloth face mask in public spaces where it is difficult to socially distance from those outside your household. If you are feeling ill, we ask you to please stay home.”

Anyone with clinical questions about the COVID-19 virus, including symptoms or testing, should call the Sawtooth Mountain Clinic at 218-387-2330.

COOK COUNTY CONNECTIONS A Look at Our County’s Housing Needs

COOK COUNTRY, MINNESOTA   June 21, 2021  (LSN)  Try to have a conversation about anything in Cook County these days, and it won’t be long before you find yourself talking about housing. It seems to be front-of-mind for everyone: the lack of available housing, record-high real estate prices, the housing cost burden that local workers are experiencing, the conversion of long-term rental housing to short-term vacation rentals and the workforce recruitment challenges that employers face when there is such a small supply of affordable housing. The problem is not a new one; in fact, it has been around for decades. But there is a confluence of events that appears to be making it more acute than it has ever been.

Very High Fire Danger Across Wisconsin

James Brown 0 1550 Article rating: No rating

MADISON, WISCONSIN  ~~~~~~~~  May 14, 2021  (LSN)  The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is asking the public to stay vigilant and avoid burning because of very high fire danger across Wisconsin, particularly in the northern two-thirds of the state.

The increased fire danger is due to the low relative humidities expected across the state, with the lowest values expected across northern Wisconsin. Temperatures will be warm and the air over Wisconsin will be dry, which are weather conditions that aid in the spread of fires.
