COOK COUNTY, MINNESOTA  ~~~~~  May 1, 2022  (LSNews)  The Cook County Highway Department announced this morning that it has closed a portion of UT 48 due to a culvert issue and issued an advisory for water running across CSAH 7.

Highway Maintenance Supervisor Josh Dix stated, “Out of an abundance of caution we are closing UT 48, east of the intersection with Bally Creek Road, between fire numbers 272 and 260. There is a culvert with the water running around it rather than through, and it is undermining the road.” Everything from fire number 260 east should be accessed from East 48, while fire number 272 can be accessed from West 48.

Dix said that the department is also aware of the water flowing across CSAH 7 near West 48. The ditch is backed up, but the pipes are open and flowing. The area has been marked with traffic cones.

“The water should go down through the day as the rain lets up,” Dix stated. “We thank everyone for their patience and encourage travelers to pay attention to changing road conditions.”
