    North Shore Health to Offer COVID-19 Testing for Travel Purposes

    COOK COUNTY, MINNESOTA  ~~~~~~~~~~   August 4, 2021  (LSNews)  North Shore Health (NSH) announced that beginning July 29, 2021 they will begin to offering molecular COVID-19 testing for asymptomatic people who are traveling to Canada and other Countries who require testing prior to entry.

    Testing will be offered on a very limited basis at 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, through the existing drive up testing process. Testing will be offered on a first come first serve basis, no appointments will be taken. Registration will be held from 8:15 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. for the 9:00 a.m. testing.   Registration will be held again at 1:15 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. for the 2:00 p.m. testing.   The registration will occur in the lobby of North Shore Health, the entrance facing 5th street/County Road 7.  Approximately 5 people per testing times will be accepted and registration will close once the maximum number is met.

    THUNDER BAY, ONTARO  ~~~~~~~  August 4, 2021  (LSNews)  As a result of the drier than average weather and water supply conditions, Lake Superior water levels have declined and are approaching the seasonal long-term average. Conditions have been wetter in the Lake Michigan-Huron basin and water levels are midway between the seasonal long-term average and the record-high water levels that were observed last year. Lake Superior outflows continue to be set in consideration of water levels upstream and downstream.

    NORTHERN, MINNESOTA  ~~~~~~   August 18, 2021  (LSNews)  The Mississippi River Headwaters watershed, the Rainy River watershed and the Red River watershed are experiencing extreme to exceptional drought that necessitates further restrictions on water use to protect drinking water supplies.

    The entire state entered the drought warning phase in mid-July. Conditions have worsened in much of Minnesota, particularly northern Minnesota, over the last month.

    Cook County uses the Code Red emergency notification system. To register for Code Red alerts, go the Cook County website: www.co.cook.mn.us  and look for the Code Red icon.  This system allows us to deliver emergency messages via phone call to your landline or mobile device and through text and email. A notification will also be sent out to all local media outlets and on County social media pages. Local authorities will go door to door to notify any impacted residences and businesses.

SAULT STE MAIRE, MICHIGAN ~~~  November 15, 2021  (LSNews)  A healthcare team made up local partners provided numerous local residents with monoclonal antibody treatments for COVID-19 last week. “We were contacted on Tuesday, November 9th by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Region 8 Healthcare Coalition Coordinator, to provide monoclonal antibody treatment to potentially 60 individuals at an assisted living facility the following day” said Renee Gray, Director of Kinross EMS. “After collaboration with Dr. Raycraft and Shelli Arnold at War Memorial, we reviewed and passed protocol to facilitate this process” Gray added.
