THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  ~  November 3, 2021 (LSNews)  Lake Superior and Lake Michigan-Huron have both continued their seasonal declines in October. As a result of the continued drier than average weather and water supply conditions, water levels on Lake Superior remain slightly below the seasonal long-term average. Weather and water supply conditions were wetter than average in the Lake Michigan-Huron basin in October, and as a result, Lake Michigan-Huron water levels remain above the seasonal long-term average. Hovland Arts Festival (HAF)

COOK COUNTY, MINNESOTA   ~~~  November 17, 2021  (LSNews)    The Hovland area is known for being a little quirky- a little far away from everything - and full of amazing artists. Come see the fun creations of the Hovlandtites

this November 27 10-4pm at the Hovland Arts Festival (HAF) and find out what we've been doing since this pandemic had us in lock down. As individual artists, alone time is usually the artist's dream but now we're ready to socialize and get back to our public. The creativity in the Hovland Town hall this summer was amazing, with over 25 artists at our summer show and it was our best public turnout since the show's inception.

    TBDHU Advising against non-essential travel

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO ~~~~  December 2, 2021 (LSNews)  At this time, the Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) is recommending that all residents avoid non-essential travel to Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan. This is regardless of an individual’s vaccination status. These states currently have the highest rates of COVID-19 in the United States and the rates are considerably higher than those in the TBDHU area. In addition, public health measures are also different in these areas and are generally looser than those in TBDHU and Ontario. This contributes to higher levels of community transmission and greater risk to people.
