FORT HOPE, ONTARIO ~~~~~ July 13, 2020 (LSN) Inside Edition has learned that a 15-year-old Fort Hope youth will be formally charged on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 in the violent attack that occurred in Fort Hope on July 8, 2020.
The youth was arrested on Saturday, July 11, 2020, by the hardworking Nishnawbe Aski Police Officers on the Fort Hope 64 Indian Reserve.
It’s alleged that attacked a male & female on the reserve with a baseball bat striking both individuals numerous times.
The male victim remains in hospital with several broken bones including both legs. The female victim, 26 year old ARLENE MONICA STACY WAPOOSE succumbed to her injuries from this vicious onslaught yesterday, Sunday, July 11,2020.
The 15 year old is currently being held in a secure custody facility in Thunder Bay. He will make a video court appearance on Wednesday, July 15,2020 to be formally arraigned on a new murder charge.
He is currently charged with:
-aggravated assault X 2.
That will change on Wednesday, July 15, 2020
THE RETURN OF DAVID MACKENZIE
Inside Edition has learned that recently retired Provincial Crown Attorney John David MacKenzie has joined one of Thunder Bay’s top law firms, De Bakker & De Bakker as an associate lawyer and will be a Defence attorney for the youth.
MacKenzie is one of the longest-serving lawyers in Thunder Bay and joins the extremely talented legal team of Deborah & Johnny de Bakker, Robert Mullen & Robert Habjan.
Inside Edition has also learned that the hardworking Nishnawbe Aski Police are receiving assistance from the hardworking Ontario Provincial Police in this investigation.
