THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO - October 27, 2018  (LSN)   It’s official, Patty Hajdu is the federal Liberal Party candidate for Thunder Bay-Superior North.
The current Member of Parliament and Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour accepted the nomination in a room full of supporters at Sleeping Giant Brewing Company Saturday afternoon.
Hajdu spoke of the tremendous investments by the federal government in Northwestern Ontario from the $83 million to continue four-laning Hwy 11/17 east of Thunder Bay, the support to build flood mitigation infrastructure, money to maintain affordable housing, support for local research, increases to Fednor for economic development and projects like the Thunder Bay Art Gallery. She outlined how these investments must continue to support the social and economic growth of our region.
« We have so much more to do if we want to continue to grow our economy, protect our environment and make sure that everyone has a fair chance at success, » she said. « I am so honoured to accept this nomination and build on the work we’ve done. » Hajdu was first elected in 2015 and was appointed to cabinet as the Minister of Status of Women. In January of 2017, she was appointed by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to serve as the Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour.
