Notice to all pet owners in Thunder Bay
THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO ~~~~~~ January 24, 2021 (LSN) Just over a week ago, our beloved 18-month-old German Shepard Sarge started showing signs he wasn’t well. We did everything we could, 2 visits to the Vets in a week, medication, but 6 days after his 1st visit, Sarge took his last breath, he was just a baby, he hadn’t even reached his 18 month birthday and he was gone..
He had contracted Blastomycosis and we can’t pinpoint the exact spot, but we can tell you where he was.
He never left Thunder Bay. He was walked in Westfort, played at the Neebing Dog Park and walked occasionally on the bike path off Mary St, that’s it.
So Blastomycosis is in Thunder Bay, and it is a deadly, devastating and brutally fast disease. When it gets into the lungs the prognosis is dire, 20% at best.
Please be aware of the many symptoms, including:
- Loss of appetite
- Lethargic
- Does not want to exercise or move too much
- Cough (no matter how slight)
- Fever
- Blastomycosis caused Eye infections
Please research Blastomycosis for all symptoms and to educate yourselves to this disease, a disease that took our beautiful Sarge and left us broken beyond words..
Thank you.
Collette Dauphinais.
Since writing the above I recieved this note
We also live in Westfort and recently lost our dog to Blasto.
We hadn’t known about it until a week before our Mocha passed. We were also left dumbfounded, trying to figure out
