CBP No Longer Processing Inadmissibility Waivers

CBP No Longer Processing Inadmissibility Waivers

at Preclearance Locations in Canada

WASHINGTON, D.C.  ~~~~  June 25, 2020  (LSN)  Effective immediately, U.S. Customs and Border Protection will no longer process inadmissibility waivers at Preclearance locations in Canada.

Inadmissibility waivers allow certain inadmissible aliens to enter the United States temporarily as nonimmigrants. Travelers may continue to seek inadmissibility waivers via Admissibility Review Office review when applying for visas at the U.S. Embassy in Ottawa or at U.S. Consulates.  In addition, CBP will continue to process Forms I-192, I-212 and I-824 at designated ports of entry. Waiver applicants are encouraged to submit their applications online via e-SAFE.

CBP reminds all prospective travelers of the restrictions on travel into the United States due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With limited exceptions, aliens may not enter the United States if they have been physically present in Brazil, China, Iran, Ireland, the United Kingdom, or the Schengen Area within the 14 days preceding their attempted entry into the United States. In addition, the United States and Canada have temporarily restricted non-essential travel across the U.S.-Canada land border. These travel restrictions do not apply to U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents returning to the United States.
