Grand Marais Arts Festival July 9 and 10th

GRAND MARAIS, MINNESOTA,  ~~~~~  June 21, 2022 (LSNews)  We look forward to seeing you at the 31st Annual Grand Marais Arts Festival!  July 9 | 9 am – 5 pm
July 10 | 10 am – 4 pm Cook County Schools Parking Lot 101 W 5th St, Grand Marais, MN 55604

There are two parking lots connected by a walking path. Both lots will be full of art, so make sure you check them both out!

There will be 83 booths featuring 89 artists from around the region. 

FOOD TRUCKS
We are pleased to add food trucks to this year's festival so you can enjoy a tasty bite from local eateries while perusing the art:

  • The Bad Seed
  • The Crooked Spoon
  • Crosby Bakery
  • Fisherman's Daughter

MUSIC
Music will return this year and be playing in both lots. Get ready to groove to:

75th Anniversary Reception
Our 75th Anniversary Reception coincides with Arts Festival! Join us to celebrate this milestone and help raise funds for expanded programming and fellowships!
Enjoy wines from North Shore Winery, food from local eateries, and acoustic guitar music from Briand Morrison. 

There will be a a brief program celebrating place and artistic inspiration at 6:45 with board members and keynote speaker Sheila M. Smith, retired Executive Director of Minnesota Citizens for the Arts.

    MADISON, WISCONSIN  ~~~~~   August 6, 2022 (LSNews)  The Wisconsin State Fair starts this week, and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is excited to announce the agency will be on-site to engage with fairgoers August 4-14. This year's theme is once again “OutWiGo” with a focus on outdoor recreation across the state.

    State Fair is the perfect place for fairgoers to meet with DNR experts to learn about Wisconsin’s world-class fishing, wildlife, state parks and all things outdoor recreation.

    THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  ~~~~~~  July 31, 2022 (LSNews)  Friends of the Finnish Labour Temple is pleased to announce that News from the Giant, as previously seen on Dougall Media in May 2022 following the TBT Newshour, will be screened on Wednesday, August 10th at 2:00 pm at the Boshcoff Summer Stage of Magnus Theatre. A discussion period will follow so that audience members can share stories and ask questions about the footage. For those that missed the opportunity to watch all eight vignettes on television or for anyone that would like to watch again, they can do so live in an outdoor setting! We will also be showing some additional footage, including a look at some of our colourized footage!

    SAULT STE MARIE, ONTAIRO  ~~~~~  June 27, 2022 (LSNews)  – Grammy and Juno award winning musician Alex Cuba will perform at the Bondar Pavilion on August 10, 2022 at 8 p.m. 

    Alex Cuba is a Latin Grammy and Juno winner, singer-songwriter who is not tied to tradition and possesses a vast musical vision. His eighth studio album, Mendó, won the Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop in 2022. The album, recorded at home, added recording engineer to his credits as musician, singer-songwriter, and producer. From the healing voice of Grammy Award winning Lila Downs on “Mundo Nuevo”, to his colourful collaboration with world-renowned flamenco artist, Antonio Carmona, and commissioning a 13-piece horn band from his native country of Cuba, the album is filled with international collaborations.
