Kam River Fighting Walleye regular season home opener

RBC Drive-In hockey game

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO ~~~~~  November 24, 2020 (LSN)  Oliver Paipoonge, Ontario – The Kam River Fighting Walleye are pleased to release details on our inaugural SIJHL regular season home game, this Friday, November 27th at NorWest Recreation Centre. The club invites it's fans to attend the RBC Drive-In hockey game in the arena parking lot.

The game, against the visiting arch-rival Thunder Bay North Stars, will be shown outside on a large screen, free of charge. Fans are invited to watch from their vehicles and tune in to the play by play on their radios. After the game, Fish fanatics can stay and take in a spectacular fireworks display. Chomper will be on hand and up to his crazy antics, merchandise will be available and so much more!

This historic celebration in honour of the Fighting Walleye's debut in the SIJHL would not be possible without the kindness of our incredibly generous sponsors! Only with their generosity are we able to offer this memorable and exciting night of Junior A hockey, on the big screen, to our passionate fans, free of charge!

Fighting Walleye president Derek Geddes is excited for the festivities. “We felt it was important for us to make our first ever home game a memorable one,” said Geddes. “We've long been planning on our first home game being played in front of a jam packed crowd, with an incredible atmosphere. With the current situation being what it is, we needed to find another way to make that happen. I think it is going to be a special night. We can't thank our sponsors enough for making this possible, and we hope our fans from Oliver Paipoonge as well as the city of Thunder Bay come out and enjoy the night,” concluded Geddes.

The puck drops at 8 PM. The parking lot will open at 7 PM, and the club advises fans to get there early as parking spots will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. The fireworks display will begin shortly following the game, which should end around 10:30 PM.

The event is FREE for all fans to attend. The organization does encourage attendees to support the Rural Food Cupboard by bringing a non-perishable food item or a monetary donation to the event.
