Two Harbors, Minnesota October 30, 2019   (LSN)  Tired of your wooden snowshoes slipping on the ice? Want to show off your crafting skills? Join Minnesota State Park Naturalists for a two-day urban snowshoe lacing workshop Saturday and Sunday, November 16 and 17 at Gooseberry Falls State Park.

Designed for the “urban” trails that abound in cities and county park systems, the urban snowshoe is lightweight and includes a binding with cleats for those icy

patches. Lace your own snowshoes in this two-day hands-on and rewarding workshop. Learn which knots to use and how to weave the two areas of decking onto the frame. Experienced instructors will provide assistance for you to lace your own pair of Urban-style snowshoes. This workshop (recommended for ages 10 and up with an adult) will consist of two consecutive day sessions from 9am to 4pm at the Visitor Center. ***Participants must attend both days.

Built from aircraft-grade 6061-T6 aluminum, these snowshoes come in three sizes. The U-30 is the largest, the U-25 for lighter adults and the U-22 is the children's model and a great way to introduce kids to snowshoeing. The traditional lacing patterns in the super-strong, super-light material are simple and quickly finished. A quick-adjust binding is included.

The cost is a $100 registration fee. This fee includes the snowshoe kit, bindings, materials and instruction, along with coffee, tea, and snacks. Varnish are not included. Lunch will not be provided for the weekend workshop, so attendees should bring a sack lunch. Workshop has a minimum of 6 participants and a maximum of 12 participants.
