Shout! The celebration of the unforgettable music

Magnus Theatre

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO,  September 6, 2019  (LSN)  Shout! The celebration of the unforgettable music and eye-popping fashions of the 1960s will make its Thunder Bay debut at Magnus Theatre on September 12th. This fun-filled smash hit has wowed audiences worldwide with its dynamic blend of classic tunes, tongue-in-cheek wit and dazzling display of female empowerment.

This brilliant revue follows five women as they redefine themselves during those liberating days that made England swing! Audiences will be swiveling their hips and bobbing their heads to colourful new arrangements of classic hits like “To Sir With Love,” “Downtown,” “Son of A Preacher Man,” and “Goldfinger” - those soulful pop anthems that made household names of stars like Petula Clark, Dusty Springfield and Lulu.

Shout Magnus Lake Superior NewsShout! was co-created by Phillip George and David Lowenstein with “mod musings & groovy gab” by Peter Charles Morris and Phillip George. The first edition of Shout! appeared on stage as a musical revue at the Duplex in New York City in 2000 and then transferred to London’s Jermyn Street Theatre, where it was nominated as Best Musical by WhatsOnStage against all the big West End Shows. Enjoying wide success, Shout! opened Off-Broadway at the Julia Miles Theatre in New York City in 2006, running for 156 performances and later moving on to electrify audiences in Chicago, Ft. Lauderdale, Hawaii, Tokyo, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, and on the high seas aboard Norwegian Cruise Lines.

“This show is a lot of fun,” says Magnus artistic director Thom Currie. “Magnus has a great tradition in this style of show, where a style of music is explored over the course of an evening.  I know that Thunder Bay will be on its feet for Shout!”

Shout! The Mod Musical is directed by Thom Currie along with musical director Danny Johnson and choreographer Julie Tomaino. The design team includes set designer Joe Pagnan, lighting designer Jeff Pybus and costume designer Mervi Agombar. The show features a highly talented cast of professional actors from across Canada. Making their Magnus Theatre debuts are Makayla Moore, Kyla Musselman, Dharma Bizier, and Tiera Watts. Robyn Harrison returns to Magnus, having last appeared in 2017's Mama's Country Record Collection. Together, they burn up the stage and raise the roof in this incredible two-hour show.

Shout! The Mod Musical previews Thursday, September 12th at 2:00pm and 7:30pm. The Gala Opening Night Performance is Friday, September 13th with the show running until October 5th.
