Extreme weather has caused delays in COVID vaccine Cook County

Extreme weather has caused delays in COVID vaccine Cook County

First Doses of COVID-19 Vaccine the Week of February 22

COOK COUNTY, MINNESOTA  ~~~~~~  February 19, 2021  (LSN)    Local public health leaders announced on Friday that extreme weather throughout much of the United States has caused delays in vaccine shipping that will result in no first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine being available in Cook County the week of February 22.

“It is likely we will still be able to offer second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to patients who had an appointment scheduled for the week of February 22 at either North Shore Health or the Cook County Community Center, Grand Maris, Minnesota, since some of that inventory is already in storage, locally,” stated Public Health Supervisor and Co-Incident Commander Grace Grinager.  “People with a second dose appointment the week of February 22 will receive a confirmation text and phone call the day before their appointment. If necessary, appointments will be rescheduled due to the shipment issue.”

“Thank you in advance for your patience as we wait for additional vaccine to arrive in Cook County,” Grinager stated. “Local public health and healthcare partners look forward to being able to resume offering first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to eligible individuals in the coming week as the supply chain stabilizes.”

Cook County Public Health will make an update on vaccine availability and eligibility for future events on Monday March 1 at 8 am via local media and at www.cookcountycovid19.org.
