DRUG DEALER SENTENCED TO 60 DAYS FOR JAIL ASSAULT
THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO ~~~~~~ June 8, 2022 (LSNews) A 27 year old HUSSEIN IBROHIM appeared by Zoom from the Toronto East Detention Center today, Wednesday June 8,2022 to plead guilty to a violent incident that occurred at the Thunder Bay Jail.

On December 28,2021 shortly after 10:50am at the Thunder Bay Jail, Toronto drug dealer SHAMAR SHAW & local criminal KERITH SALMON were sitting at a day table in the common area of Block 8 West. A dispute arose where SHAW struck SALMON. SALMON then took SHAW to the ground, punching & kicking him. Others in the cell block joined in on the assault, including drug dealers TAJAE REID & HUSSEIN IBROHIM.
IBROHIM used a metal jail cell door to swing it twice into the head of SHAW.
As Correctional Officers appeared, all inmates returned to their cells and SHAW crawled to the block door where he was taken to hospital with a fractured orbital bone.
The entire incident was captured on surveillance video and played for the court.
IBROHIM is guilty of assault with a weapon (jail cell door)
Crown Attorney Wood and Defence Lawyer David Newton have a joint submission for Her Honour to consider.
IBROHIM is from the Toronto area and is a Canadian citizen. His father left his mother when he was 2 years old. IBROHIM went to Somalia as a teenager for several years as a high school student. He previously worked for the City of Toronto, UPS & as a loss prevention officer. He witnessed his friend getting shot and has PTSD.
The joint submission is for 60 days time served along with a 2 year weapon prohibition and DNA order.
Her Honour accepts the joint submission and sentences IBROHIM accordingly.
He will not be released from custody as he has outstanding drug dealing charges from a Picton Avenue Social Housing cocaine & heroin bust.
