LU Radio is hosting our 4th annual fundraising concerts

Thunder Bay, Ontario  September 20, 2019  (LSN)  This Friday and Saturday LU Radio is hosting our 4th annual fundraising concert - The.Wav 2019 - S.O.S (Save Our Station).

In January 2019, the Ontario government announced a new policy that would defund all student services the government viewed as unessential. Campus radio was one of these services. Despite our provincial and national lobbying, we were not able to amend this policy and as of September 2019, LU Radio and all campus stations across Ontario will lose their core funding. We need to raise approximately $50,000 in 2019-2020 to secure the future of campus community radio in Thunder Bay. We can do this, we just need to be backed by the community that loves us!

The.Wav 2019 - S.O.S is a two night fundraising concert taking place on Friday September 20th at The Foundry and Saturday September 21st at Black Pirates Pub, featuring some of the best local talent. We are raising awareness of how important campus community radio is to Thunder Bay while celebrating our diverse music scene. This year's line-up of musicians have all donated their performances.

Doors are at 9pm, $5 cover and this is 19+ event. LU Radio volunteers will be on site with tshirts for sale and you can donate to the station on site!

Come on out and help us raise the necessary funds to keep LU Radio broadcasting through this funding crisis. Your support will keep independent music and media alive in Thunder Bay. You will help keep us staffed so we can continue giving Thunder Bay bands the attention they deserve through national charts, local interviews and music distribution.
